23 February 2021

Fresh on the heels of last week’s City Lab, the Intelligent Cities Challenge is attending the EU Industry Days.

EU Industry Days is Europe's annual flagship event on industry. It is the leading platform to discuss industrial challenges, where stakeholders from different sectors chart opportunities and develop policy responses in an inclusive setting. This year’s edition will be held from 23 to 26 February 2021.

European industry is at a crossroads. It is embarking on an ambitious green and digital transformation journey, opening itself up to new and exciting opportunities for EU businesses and citizens alike. That is why the European industrial strategy makes the case for a greener, more digital, and resilient ecosystem. The conference will focus on three main topics:

  • Europe’s ambitious goal to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050
  • Readying Europe for its digital future
  • EU competitiveness in the changing global competitive landscape

This year, the EU Industry Days will take place online. This new digital format will allow even more people to listen in on the various panel discussions, keynote speeches, and podcasts.

The Intelligent Cities Challenge will have a strong presence at the event. Last week’s City Lab was recognised as a local partner event to the Industry Days. Representatives from two of the ICC participant cities were also interviewed for the Industry Days’ podcast series.  In episode 7, Mohamed Ridouani, Mayor of Leuven and Sébastien Viano, Director of European Affairs, Euro-Mediterranean Relations and External Funding for the Metropolis Nice Côte d'Azur, discussed how forward-looking cities help their citizens and businesses to thrive. Throughout the conference, the ICC team will be hosting a virtual booth in the online exhibition area. Make sure to stop by.
