As part of the transversal services track on innovation procurement, the ICC team has identified new opportunities for ICC cities that need to procure innovation to meet the goals set out in their roadmap. The opportunities include European Assistance for Innovation Procurement and the Procure PCP project. Learn more about which opportunity would suit your city’s innovation procurement needs below.

1. EAFIP Assistance to innovation procurement projects (ICT-based solutions):

The European Assistance for Innovation Procurement (EAFIP) initiative EAFIP provides local assistance to selected public procurers in the preparation and implementation of a Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) or a Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI).

Between 2021-2022, new projects that aim to procure innovative ICT-based solutions have the opportunity to apply for free assistance. Public procurers could for example receive support with scoping an already identified procurement need that can be tackled with innovative solutions, preparing and conducting an EU wide published open market consultation, or drafting tendering documents.

Interested ICC cities should apply by 25th September 2021. Following this deadline, new calls to apply for free assistance will be published every three months.

Cities interested in securing support should go to the EAFIP website, where they will find information about what the assistance comprises, eligibility conditions, the schedule of upcoming calls, and the application process.

2. ProcuRE PCP: support for procuring renewable energy supply for public buildings

The ProcuRE PCP project aims to help public buyers support the development of innovative renewable energy solutions for public buildings.

Public buyers are invited to get in touch to become a preferred partner of the project. This will allow them to collaborate with both suppliers and other city partners to shape the development of new solutions to meet their needs.

For more information and to apply, ICC cities are encouraged to visit the ProcuRE PCP website.
