Jyväskylä is Finnish a city and municipality in the western part of the Finnish Lakeland. Key sectors in Jyväskylä include education, healthcare services, paper machinery production, information technology and renewable energy. The city is working on several innovative urban projects, including Eteläportti and the Kangas district.
Eteläportti is the most advanced digital service hub for the manufacturing industry. It is being built just outside Jyväskylä, offering a modern smart technology environment for companies engaged in industrial manufacturing and the provision of complementary services. Eteläportti promotes sustainable development and smart solutions by creating networks that help companies succeed.
Jyväskylä’s Kangas district is an ecological and a creative neighbourhood, built next to the river Tourujoki. Kangas is situated in the area of an old paper mill, only one kilometre from the city centre. Kangas is an ideal setting for innovative and creative start-ups that wish to take part in developing a new type of business cluster and ecological neighbourhood in Jyväskylä. It combines sustainable urban construction with the latest technologies in living and digital services. In 2040, there will be around 5,000 inhabitants in Kangas, with 2,100 people working there.
