Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and the country’s largest city. Located in south-western Slovakia, the city sits on both the banks of the Danube River (centre of the city) and the left bank of the Morava River (western part of the city). The city is the political, cultural and economic heart of the country.

Bratislava is involved in numerous projects to become a smart city. One notable example being a pilot project set up under the EU-GUGLE programme, identifying challenges and solutions to improving the city’s housing stock.

Over recent years, the city has made significant investments in infrastructure to improve the quality of life of its citizens, with a focus on sustainability.
