Alcobendas is part of the community of Madrid in central Spain. The city recently underwent a significant transformation and is now one of the most affluent areas around Madrid. The city is committed to building an innovation hub to become more attractive to high-tech firms and start-ups.
Alcobendas has initiated its transformation into a smart city with an administration that work alongside industries and local entrepreneurs to develop a digital innovation centre and smart solutions. One of its flagship projects, the Digital Ecoboulevard Salvador Allende, has transformed a major urban barrier that once separated the residential areas from the city’s economic centre, into a space of gathering for its residents. The Ecoboulevard is part of a wider renovation strategy to implement new mobility and eco-technological solutions to connect people and urban areas.
Already a national centre for innovation and entrepreneurship, the city is ready and equipped to reach a new technological level. Alcobendas aims to build on its existing foundations to continue its path towards becoming a smart city to improve the quality of life of its citizens.
